Sometime due to viruses or other reason your Registry Editor has been disabled. Today I have giving you five tricks which helps to re-enable your registry editor again.

First Way | From Group Policy Editor

By group policy you can re-enable your registry editor quickly and it is a fast and useful way. Let begin the steps:
1. Open group policy editor Start > Run > Type 'gpedit.msc' without quotas > Hit Enter.

2. Now go to this location:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System

3. Now in the right pane you can see the 'Prevent access to registry editing tools'.
4. Double click on it if it is on 'Not Configure', 'Enable' or 'Disable'

5. Now Change it to 'Enable' > OK
6. Again double click on it and set its value to 'Not Configure' > OK

7. Now quickly Go to Start > Run > Type 'regedit' without quotas and Hit enter your registry editor will be opened.

Second Way | Using Run Command

You can use run command for re-enable your registry editor. For that:
1. Go to Start > Run
2. Now copy the following code and paste it in to run box as following screenshot.

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
 /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

3. Now Hit Enter and Reboot/Restart your system, your registry editor has been enabled.

Third Way | By removing regedit.com files

Sometime due to a virus named 'W32.Navidad' creates a dummy file of 0 Byte of size which replaces the regedit.exe file on drive. So when they replace the original file then it will be opened while we want open registry editor. By removing that type of file we can access to registry editing tools.

1. Go to 'WINDOWS' folder of drive where your system has been installed.
2. Make sure 'regedit' file is '.com' or zero byte dummy file.
3. If so, then delete it permanently.
Now you can access your registry editor normally.

Fourth Way | Using VB Script

A Microsoft Professional Doug Knox creates a visual basic script of name 'reg-enable.vbs'. It helps to enable the registry editor. Download it, make sure its extension is '.vbs'.

1. After completion of downloading Double click on it to run.
2. If you promoted by administrator password, then fill your password.
3. After the running of that script, reboot your system.

Fifth Way | Installing UnHookExec.inf

Sometime worms/viruses crash the shell > open > command values of registry editor. In that case:

1. Download the UnHookExec.inf file from Symantec website.
2. Make sure its extension is in '.inf'.
3. Right click on it after downloading and choose Install option.
4. When the process complete, reboot your system.
Many people say that the fifth way is very very useful way.

By applying any of 5 ways of above you can get the success in re-enabling registry editor. Those tricks support in all version of windows. If you couldn't get success in applying above 5 ways, repair or install the new operating system.
